Le illuminazioni artistiche che coloreranno le città

Ad illuminare il Festival con i colori dei 17 Obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile, contribuirà simbolicamente anche un monumento storico come la Piramide Cestia a Roma. Grazie alla collaborazione di Acea infatti, dalle 20.15 alle 24.00 di martedì 22 settembre, in occasione dell’inaugurazione del Festival, sulla facciata della Piramide sarà proiettata la ghiera dell’Agenda 2030. La Piramide non sarà l’unico monumento a essere illuminato durante il Festival: a Torino, grazie a un’iniziativa a cura di Lavazza e Iren, con il patrocinio del Comune di Torino, la ghiera degli SDGs sarà proiettata sulla Mole Antonelliana in concomitanza con l’evento nazionale sul Goal 4 “Istruzione e Educazione allo sviluppo sostenibile. Generazione 2030 – È ora di agire” che si terrà il 6 ottobre.

From crisis to recovery: for a sustainable transformation of Europe and Italy

The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the vulnerability of our economic, social and institutional systems to global shocks. What started as a health crisis had serious and unprecedented repercussions on our economies, our societies, employment, transport, the entertainment industry and the way common spaces are conceived. Recovery from this crisis has demanded and still demands for answers that can strengthen the transformative resilience of our systems, ensuring an adequate capacity to react to adverse conditions and innovate to “leap forward” thanks to the lessons learnt. Moreover, the crisis shed light on the need to implement policies that can make socioeconomic systems sustainable in the long run, guaranteeing an adequate balance between economic, social and environmental needs.

The European response to the crisis has been characterized by unprecedented decisions, in line with the favourable approach to sustainable development adopted in the summer of 2019 by the newly elected President of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who delegated each Commissioner to achieve the 2030 Agenda’s Sustainable Development Goals according to the relative competencies. This commitment translated into the “Next Generation EU”, a plan based on an ambitious transition scheme that reaffirms the European Union’s will to remain the most sustainable area of the planet, achieving climate neutrality by 2050 while realizing economic growth and decent work, leaving no one behind.

The opening event of the 2020 Sustainable Development Festival will address the issues tied to the European and national recovery. With the participation of leaders of key companies from strategic sectors, the event will represent an unprecedented moment of reflection on how to ensure a recovery that can make Italy more resilient and sustainable. Thanks to a liaison with the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nation, the works of the 75^th UN General Assembly, which will be celebrating the 2030 Agenda’s fifth anniversary, will also be assessed.
