Education for all
Education for Sustainable Development is explicitly mentioned in the 2030 Agenda:
Target 4.7
“By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.”
For a more sustainable world, individuals must be empowered to take informed decisions and responsible actions for environmental integrity, economic viability and a just society for present and future generations.
Education for Sustainable Development
ASviS dedicates particular attention to quality education, striving to promote respect for the right to accessible and inclusive education for all. To stress the relevance education holds, the Alliance has established an autonomous area to coordinate the initiatives carried on by the Alliance through its working group dedicated to the Agenda’s Goals.
Quality education and lifelong learning are thus crucial to achieve sustainable development. Due to the relevance Education holds and its broad inclusivity, the Alliance has established the cross-cutting working group on Education for sustainable development, who works in close collaboration with the working group dedicated to SDG4.
Among other initiatives, the working groups have elaborated a comprehensive overview of the Target 4.7 in Italy and among the European countries. The data, the policy and the tools analyzed have been summed up in the document QUADERNO.
Recently, the groups have led on a collective collection of cases regarding Italian schools that have invested in innovative didactic approaches, method and space while stressing the importance of educating teachers and school staff about the wellbeing of students and how to well manage new spaces and dynamics for a high quality education. The document NETXGENERATIONSCHOOL follows the weekly publication occurred on the blog FUTURANETWORK.
